As you probably have heard, reviews are vital to a book (and author’s) success. Especially on Amazon.
Now while there are many myths and legends about what reviews do, they do show something. They show that a book was read. (Rankings change and fluctuate on how other books in those categories are doing. Not too reliable.) Reviews give an indication on how other readers felt about the book/story. And the number of reviews can make or break an author’s opportunities for marketing that book. (Confused? Let’s just say, a book that has been out a year and only has four reviews is more likely to get turned down from being able to buy a spot in that book newsletter you subscribe to than one that has ten, even if it is selling better. Reviews let those book newsletters, such as Fussy Librarian, know that a book is being read.)
